Statement On The Death Of DHS Secretary Marcus Welder

October 17, 2025 - I am sad to have to report that DHS Secretary Marcus Welder has died from his injuries he sustained this afternoon after a gunman shot him in the chest and head. 

We are now treating this as a terrorist act, and will send as many resources as humanly possible to find his killer. A member of this administration, he served the Jesstopian people honorably and with distinction. We will feel his loss moving into our first year in office next month.

We thank him for his service to our country and we know his legacy will live on forever. I pray for the Welder family, including his wife and children. May Secretary Welder rest in eternal peace.
