President Laylin Delivers Remarks On Roberto High School Shooting

November 6, 2025 - I am angry to learn about the shooting at Roberto High School early this afternoon. Those students who were attended classes did not deserve this. My hope is that no one was seriously injured or killed, as there are still not reports on the injuries or potentially deaths that resulted from this shooter opening fire. 

Governor Rivera and I will work closely to ensure the adequate resources are deployed to the High School as the investigation unfolds. I also want to ensure that the district has the adequate resources available to it to rebuild from this shooting. I am currently in constant communication with Superintendent Joe Smith and his District Administrative team.

I commend Trooper David McHenry for stepping in and nuetralizing the shooter as quickly as possible. We will be working to gather more details as the investigation progresses and we learn more.
